WordPress is the world’s most popular website builder and Content Management System (CMS). It is open-source, highly flexible, great for beginners and is always getting better. It currently powers over 40% of the web. Multisite is a feature of WordPress that allows multiple sites to run from one WordPress installation. This results in a more efficient use of server resources while keeping the whole network more secure. One example is WordPress.com – the largest Multisite in the world with millions of sites from one WordPress installation. Another example is Edublogs, with over 4 million sites and owned by the same team that we rely on to host our network.

By using Multisite as a base for most Member sites we can offer you the same benefits of having your own WordPress site, like your own domain, users, media and premium plugins while keeping the whole network secure, feature rich and fast at a fraction of the cost to you. And because our network is powered by a platform built for WordPress and Multisite, it is a much better option than lower priced shared hosting. And our Membership comes with a full maintenance and security program.

Our Membership includes a feature rich, no-hassle WordPress website that you can add premium functionality and beautiful designs to with no coding. This saves you all the time and effort of finding a great host, installing and configuring your site, searching for quality themes and plugins and keeping them constantly updated, all while keeping your site fast and secure. A Membership also saves you a lot of money by gaining access to premium tools and design features that you would otherwise have to pay for individually. It’s perfect for individuals, small businesses, entrepreneurs, non-profits or anyone who wants to join the WordPress community and learn to build amazing websites. If you love programming and want to customize WordPress or have complete control over adding themes and plugins or have a very large complex site, a Mindworks Membership is probably not the best fit. If that is the case, we can help with a custom plan that includes your own WordPress installation blended with our maintenance, support and service plans. No. There are thousands of WordPress plugins and themes, which is what makes WordPress so amazing. However, to keep our Member sites secure and fast we don’t allow our users to add their own plugins or themes. As our Community grows, upon request we can review, test, approve and install plugins or themes. This will keep our Community of sites safe while continually improving the features available to Members. If you’re interested in something specific let us know and we can figure something out.

Yes. If you have an existing WordPress site we can migrate that to our network at no extra cost depending on what plugins and features you currently have. If you are currently with another web building platform and not WordPress, we can help move the content over to start your new life with WordPress. This type of work can also be included in our Starter Package.

Yes, of course. You can take all of the content and data from your site and migrate to another hosting provider. Some features that we provide through premium plugins and themes may be lost, unless you purchase these licenses yourself after migrating. This is explained in our Terms and Conditions.

Premium, which is often referred to as Pro in the WordPress community, means you have to pay for a license to use advanced theme or plugin features on your site. A Mindworks Membership gives you access to these premium features at a fraction of the cost if you were to purchase them all yourself. While you are a Member, or collaborating with us as clients, you are using our licenses for these themes and plugins.

Yes. We offer pay as you go SSD storage so you don’t have to upgrade your whole plan and pay for things you don’t need.

No. As a Member you do not have access to the website file directory or database. We take care of all of that for you. Everything you need is easily accessed from your WordPress Admin dashboard.

Your private Member workspace will have references on how to get started, how to use the WordPress Block Editor and how to configure the plugins we offer, among other WordPress and Digital Marketing topics. This workspace includes automated notifications to quickly communicate updates or questions. We also have email support and are looking at other ways that work for our members. Because our membership approach limits things like adding your own plugins, managing your own updates and security, we find the need for a lot of technical support is minimized.

Our platform and tech stack is built on servers managed by WPMU DEV – the best in the business of providing blazing fast and secure WordPress optimized hosting and support. Member sites are hosted on servers based in Toronto.

We take care of most site optimization tools like gzip compression, browser caching, asset optimization, lazy loading of media and a CDN which saves you time and money and keeps your site optimized. Member Admins can further optimize their site speed by leveraging page caching and media optimization. All with no coding.

A Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a network of high-performance servers distributed around the world that are designed to improve performance by storing and sharing content that is geographically closer to your site visitors. Members have access to our premium built-in CDN and can also connect their site to Cloudfare.

You can upload almost any type of media file, however it is important to keep in mind the amount of storage space some files can take up. The largest file size that you can upload to your site is 32 MB.

Everything on the web is vulnerable to security threats and because WordPress powers 40% of the web it is very popular with hackers. That being said, WordPress core itself is very secure. In addition to that, the plugins and themes we offer are regularly updated to maintain security and stability. We also use a premium security plugin behind the scenes that includes a web application firewall, regular security scans, login protection and many other security features so you can rest assured your site is safe.

Yes we do. We take daily incremental backups of the full network that are stored for 30 days. We also take weekly backups of each individual site which we store safely in our cloud vault. These are the backups which we can use to restore your site if necessary and upon request.

Every site includes an SSL Certificate from Let’s Encrypt. The certificates are applied automatically to your site without any cost or effort required by you.

Included with every Member site is Google ReCAPTCHA that you can apply and configure to block spam from your blog comments, forms and product reviews as well as protect login pages. Connecting your site’s ReCAPTCHA to a Google account is required.

We take care of all security and new feature updates for WordPress, themes and plugins. Usually on a weekly basis. Updates and new features are communicated ahead of time through your Member workspace and in some cases we may post a message directly in your site’s Admin dashboard.

Yes. All Member sites can map to their domain at no extra cost. For example, if your current site is example.com and you sign up for a Membership, it will initially look like mindworksattic.ca/example but once you map your domain it will be example.com.

We do not sell domain names directly at this time. We can help you configure your DNS records or manage them for you in order to map your site to our network. We can include management (purchase/renewal) of your domain (which can include email) as an addition to your Membership plan.

Email is not included with our Web Creator or Web Creator Pro Membership plans. We can put together custom plans that would include email if that is something you need. That said, every Membership plan does include the ability to send your site emails using an SMTP service (e.g. Mailgun, Sendgrid). Many domain registrars (and ISPs) also include a free inbox which you can use with SMTP to have branded emails. Contact us if you have any questions.

No. All the third party integrations available with the Forms or Marketing plugins are included at no extra cost by us. The apps you integrate with may have their own cost, though many have free tiers to get you started. One in particular we recommend for small businesses and entrepreneurs is HubSpot for Customer Relationship Management and Support.

No. We do not put any ads or Mindworks branding on your site. Ever.

No. Google recognizes each site that has its own domain name as a single stand-alone site. Regardless of whether it is a part of a WordPress Multisite network.

The WordPress Block Editor is a new way to create visually stunning, media rich pages and blog posts in WordPress. Released in WordPress 5.0 as Gutenberg, the Block Editor is the first step in a multi-phase project to see WordPress move towards a full-site editing platform using blocks. The goal is to make WordPress even easier for beginners to build amazing sites. This vision is one reason why we think WordPress is the future of web design and page building, and why we think now is a great time to be a part of it if you’re not already.

Both of our Membership plans include unlimited use of the WordPress core blocks and unlimited use of two sets of premium blocks. Our Web Creator Pro plan has a few additional blocks. These blocks can all be used together and when combined, we think offer almost everything you’ll need to make the site of your dreams.

WordPress blocks are a great tool for building engaging content. With blocks, you can insert, rearrange and style multimedia content with very little technical knowledge. Instead of using code, you can add blocks and focus on your content. The web is full of helpful resources on how to use blocks and WordPress. You will also find references and insights in your workspace. The fact that it’s so easy to find support, documentation and learning resources is another reason why being a part of the WordPress community is so awesome. You’re never alone in your quest to build the perfect website.

With both Membership plans, you can add different types of pre-built designs to your pages and posts. From directly within the Editor you can choose from dozens of pre-designed block patterns (sections made up of multiple blocks) that you can add to the page with one click. You can also choose from professionally designed, full pre-built pages that when combined would make up a complete site (e.g. Home, About Us, Contact, Services, Portfolio etc.). All of these options are great for not only building out your site quickly, but also for getting inspiration and makes learning the Block Editor easy, creative and fun.

Yes. If you want to start off with a full pre-built starter site, you can take a look and let us know if there’s one you really like. Any Member can start with one of the templates we created or from these starter templates built with the Kadence theme or these that are built with the Astra theme.

Yes, we would love to. If you’re interested in working with us on your site let us know. We have flexible, tailor-made Web Creator Plus plans that can fit your needs. We also have a flexible Starter Package that can include everything from Admin setup, to site design and adding content, to form configuration and product setup to help you get rolling. We want all of our Members to succeed and love to help them with fun designs, engaging content and any other support they need. Absolutely. It is very easy to upload your own images or embed videos, or upload media assets from your favourite design app like Picmonkey or Canva, or stock image sites to WordPress. It is important to be aware of licensing and copyright when using any media on your site.

WooCommerce is a powerful, customizable, open-source e-commerce plugin for WordPress and managed by the same team behind WordPress – Automattic. With the WooCommerce plugin you can set up a new store in minutes with limitless products, secure payments, configurable shipping options and more, out of the box with no code. With an easy to use WooCommerce dashboard you can manage your products, orders, coupons and more. All Members can sell physical and digital products with WooCommerce on their site.

No. We do not limit the number of products you can sell or have any part in commissions or anything like that. Your site and store are all yours. The only limit is the disk storage, which you’ll need for product data and media. Our Web Creator Plan starts with 12 GB of space which is room for hundreds of products. And we offer one-time purchases of more space when you need it. There are restrictions on certain types of products you can sell such as illicit materials. You can read more about these restrictions on our Terms of Use.

Yes. You can sell just about anything with WooCommerce. From simple physical products to digital content and you can let your customers choose from product variations, single items or bundles. You can also work with us and have a custom Membership plan that includes one or more of the WooCommerce extensions.

WooCommerce comes bundled with the ability to accept major credit cards, bank transfers (BACS), cheques and cash on delivery. Beyond the basics, there are 140 region-specific gateways to choose from and integrate with including Stripe, PayPal, Square and Amazon Pay. Apple Pay, Google Pay, subscriptions and deposits are also supported.

WooCommerce Extras is a powerful plugin included in our Web Creator Pro Membership. This plugin adds many special features to extend your e-commerce site. You can create beautiful product galleries with hover over image zoom, advanced reviews with voting, custom modal size charts, elegant variation swatches, custom cart messages that target specific carts with specific messages and powerful call to action buttons that can apply coupons and add other products to the cart. This plugin will take your online store the to next level.

Yes. Shipping is built right into your WooCommerce dashboard. You can configure shipping regions, flexible or standard shipping rates and set things like free shipping if your customer spends a certain amount. WooCommerce is a very powerful e-commerce tool.

Absolutely. There are a number of ways to get going with dropshipping. With WooCommerce you can sell the products and then have others do the picking, packing and shipping. Other integrations are possible that we can work with you on as a custom plan if you’re interested.

Yes. You are free to link your Google account to your site for things like Adsense, Analytics and Map blocks. And you are free to add affiliate marketing tools to your site as well, like Amazon products or other online sellers offering ways to earn money while delivering great content.
